YAY! I made it to the end. I think I only missed one or two days too. :D

Jeff took off this week, so that we could get stuff done and spend time together before I leave on Friday. Today was Christmas shopping. I think I might just die later when I lay down. I thought I was tough to shop with. Looks like I have nothing on Jeff when he has a plan. We went to seven different stores, and was gone from 9 AM til 2:30 PM. I predict that I will be in bed before nine tonight.

I have to pack tonight. I need to call to order "tickets" for my bag or bags, and I need to figure out if I need 1 suitcase or two.

For those of you that enjoyed the ficlet yesterday, you might be happy to hear that Missy and I have been talking about ways to expand on the idea somewhat. YAY! The muse is finally talking to me again. I haz a BIG happy! :D

After Herculean efforts I bought a light bulb for the kitchen today (fluorescent, 1500mm) and discovered the dreadful truth. I live like a pig. For some reason, the new bulb seems to be brighter than the one it replaced, and the kitchen is now lit like the opening scene of a panto ("are we all happy boys and girls?") bringing into sharp relief my kitchen-cleaning failure of the past few weeks. (This may be a lie. It may have been longer – cleaning the kitchen rather went by the wayside when I got depressed. Don't eat at my house.)

I first tried to buy this thing on Sunday at the horrible shop near where gloria1 lives, and over a week since the previous one bit the dust. They had everything else, they sell kitchens let alone kitchen sinks, but not a 1500mm fluorescent bulb. Every other size, and shape, but not that. So, frustrated, I bought a Christmas tree. As you do, obviously.

The young man in the horrible shop told me strange stories of an electrical shop further down the road at Thatched House - which is near the place where the psychiatrist has his office – but obviously he was not open on a Sunday. It seemed to me therefore that I could roll two visits up together today.

Had I the sense given a billiard ball I'd have visited the psychiatrist first and then bought the bulb, but for some reason that obvious way round eluded me and I arrived at the psychiatrist's office clutching a fragile 1500mm of glass. And the psychiatrist says I'm not mad – really, he does. I asked him.

I also asked him what I should do about my generalised cleaning failure. He said, "Get a cleaner." Which is what gloria1 told me when I asked her. So I'm considering it.

I just submitted the last of my official fest fics for the holiday season. One day early, whoot! I still have a few pinch hits due throughout December, but it feels good to have the "official" stuff out of the way. And one of the pinch hits is at about 75% complete, so yay!

Today is going to be jam-packed with RL-ness, though, so hopefully I can carve out time tonight to finish THAT fic and then get started on the next one.

I can't believe everything starts posting tomorrow! It seems like I've been waiting forever (and/or praying for deadlines to not approach so quickly). Okay, so if you want to catch my fics, they will be posted throughout December on the following communities/asylums:

Date night was fun. I learned something, that after four kids you would think I'd have known already...Missed this lesson though. When seven months pregnant, the order of the date should be, long ass movie first, dinner second. And three drinks at dinner makes for quite a few trips to the restroom durring said long ass movie. (btw, for those that would want to yell when I say "Drinks" while pregnant. The worst ingerdient in my drink for the baby, was the caffeine.)

2012 is a decent movie. I am pretty sure it will go in my DVD collection next to ID4 and the volcano movies. Dinner was good too. Can never go wrong at a hibatchi (sp?) grill. My California roll was exceptional as well. Although, my cat hasn't left me alone since I sat down. She seems to think that I will share my dinner. She doesn't seem to understand that I don't share very well. She even passed up a Pounce to sit and stare at me. Not very smart of her.

Our poor tree looks so lonely this year. But, we just don't see the point of decorating further. No point in putting holes in walls that we will jsut have to repair in a few months time. Both Jeff and I agree, the less we have to deal once we get the OK to leave, the better for everyone.

Is anyone else not getting Email notifications? I got a few from the Snape_Potter group on IJ, but no personal ones recently. lol is IJ on strike, or is just no one here? Bet everyone went shopping, huh? :D

As we say in these parts. Another pretty mellow day; got up late, and decided not to grocery shop today since we had sufficient milk etc. to hold us till tomorrow, and fridge space was still at a premium with various leftovers occupying it. (We ate up a few things for dinner tonight.) Ran an errand or two, though, and have done almost all the LIS reading (1.5 more chapters to go) and posted in discussion for one class. Also hung out in the front yard with SO and the neighbors for a while.

Tomorrow I'll grocery shop, then make a whole lot of cranberry nut bread mini-loaves for gifting, and make mashed potatoes for dinner with leftover turkey & gravy and more leftover veggies. Turkey Sun/Tues/Thurs, gumbo Mon/Wed/Fri, I think. Easy. Will just need to make more veg eventually. We're going to throw a little holiday party in a couple of weeks and I'm starting to plot food for that.

Fic-stuff: alisanne is modding adventdrabbles at IJ again this year; she posts a daily prompt from December 1-24, but it's not required to use it, and ficlets as well as drabbles are welcome, in any fandom. beren_writes mods adventdrabbles at LJ, although doesn't do the prompts.

Less than 2 weeks until 3fan_holidays ficlets are due, and I put up the header template post for that today. And hd_holidays starts posting Tuesday, as will daily_deviant's Kinky Kristmas, and I believe also happy_trekmas. Whew - those are just the ones I'm participating in, too, and there are plenty of other fests kicking off shortly as well.

My mother and brother are avid photographers. They both stood at the back door watching while this bird strutted around the yard. Brother eventually picks up the camera and says: "The viewfinder is empty".
*head/desk* Yup, dingdong didn't take the lense cap off. By the time Mr. Sg got out our el-cheapo camera and got near a window, the bird was done laughing it's ass off at the humans and began to fly away. To add insult to this episode, he curved close to the house, out over the maximum part of the yard then flew out of sight.
